About the artist
Sophia Van Dyk has an art studio in San Francisco's mission district where she paints, collages, and creates cyanotype prints. She learned alternative photo processes in college from Martha Madigan, a renowned cyanotype artist. Years later, the love of fashion blossomed with her longstanding skill for alternative printing methods when she started printing cyanotype designs on socks, t-shirts, hats, and totes. Each piece created by the artist is 100% unique due to the handmade techniques including painting onto fabric with a brush, placing designs by hand, and the sun's daily particularity during exposure.
With a BFA in photography from Tyler School of Art, she also continues her fine art practice and exhibits works of photography, painting, and multi-media installations.
